Cathy Browne, Associate Producer, The Early Edition, CBC Vancouver and the Creator and Producer, Access Denied. Cathy Browne wears many hats – and she’s often seen in them as well.
A graduate of McGill University, Cathy is a former public relations and communications professional with a 30-year career in Toronto, Ottawa, and Silicon Valley. Cathy is currently an associate producer with The Early Edition, CBC Vancouver’s weekday morning radio show. She is also the creator and producer of a regular radio column called Access Denied, which tackles a wide variety of disability-related issues beyond the built environment. Cathy got her start at CBC at age 65 through the CAPE program, an industry-leading 12-week paid work experience for people with disabilities from across Canada. Cathy is a photographer, disability advocate, motivational speaker, and fledgling stand-up comic. And she’s legally blind.
Cathy’s photography captures and shares spontaneous moments in time with a perspective that is distinctly her own.
In addition to shooting media events, arts and culture, fashion, nature, and her cats, Cathy has also photographed prime ministers, actors, chefs, authors, musicians, and occasionally, international celebrities including Oprah, Anthony Bourdain, Steven Tyler, and Penn and Teller.
