About 15.5 per cent of Ontario’s population has a disability and that number will grow as our population ages. Ontario will be increasingly dependent on a workforce that includes people with disabilities and people who are working beyond the retirement age. The employment standard is about making accessibility a regular part of finding, hiring and supporting employees with disabilities. Retail Council of Canada acknowledges the Accessibility Directorate of Ontario for the provision and permitted non-commercial and non-profit use of the Handbook for Accessible Employment: Under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
